A BRIDGE TOO FAR? NOT FOR THE WHITE ENSIGN ASSOCIATION

Flying into Glasgow and then making his way to HMNB Clyde Mike Howell, our Director of Finance & Company Secretary, crosses the Erskine Bridge to start his regular monthly visit to Scotland.

With the support of the Staff at Faslane Learning & Development Centre Mike starts his day there with a WEA bespoke Your Future presentation. This covers the wider services offered by the Association, as well as its unique Employment Services and highlights in some detail the financial considerations to be considered when leaving the Service.  In particular, great lengths are taken to ensure that everyone understands their entitlement to Pensions under the three schemes currently in force; namely AFPS75, AFPS05 & AFPS15.

Following the presentation, One-to-One interviews are conducted at 40 minute intervals as required.  Upon completion Mike makes his way by road to RM Condor stopping over at Carnoustie for the night.

The visit format is repeated again at RM Condor, this time courtesy of the Staff in the Education Centre and later that day he makes his way to Rosyth, ahead of his visit to MOD Caledonia the next day. With help from the Deputy Naval Resettlement Officer (North) based in MOD Caledonia the visits are slightly shorter and concluded about lunchtime to allow Mike to make his way to Edinburgh Airport via the Forth Road Bridge.

Leaving the Service for the majority of individuals is both a daunting and challenging time. However, the Association through its national and world wide representation can offer encouragement and practical support to help everyone achieve their goals and aspirations after making what is for many the Biggest Step of All……………

MAKE SURE YOU ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR YOUR SECOND CAREER
