| Who We Lecture To - When
And Why!
New Entry Financial Awareness Lecture
All new entrants into the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, officers and ratings
alike, receive a Financial Awareness Lecture from Association staff during
their training. These lectures give trainees an impartial and balanced perspective
on basic financial management, informs them on a broad range of financial considerations,
helps them to find financial and other advice at all levels and lets them know
what the Association can do for them, both during and after their Service careers.
Refresher Lecture
At certain stages during their careers selected personnel are given a Refresher
Lecture which reminds them of what the Association does and how it may help
someone for whom they may be responsible, or accountable to, in the future.
Typically this lecture is given to PO Logs (Pers) Qualifying Courses, Senior
Logs (Pers) Refresher Courses, Initial Logistic Officers Courses, Advanced
Logistic Officers Courses and the Intermediate Command and Staff Courses (Maritime).
The lecture is also given on request at ship and unit level to audiences of
any size, including entire Ship’s Companies and Royal Marine Commandos,
in order to remind personnel at an individual level of what we have to offer.
This is normally supported by personal interviews if required.
Pre-Deployment Lecture A tailored ship or unit level brief covering those important issues which
personnel should consider before deploying. Insurance, wills, power of attorney,
banking and associated subjects are covered in order to help personnel better
prepare themselves personally and provide support for their dependants during
their absence. This can also be accompanied by personal interviews if required.
Resettlement Finance and Employment Lecture
During the Resettlement process, or even if personnel are just at the stage
of considering leaving the Service and have yet to PVR, they can attend one
of our regular Resettlement Finance and Employment Lectures held at NELSON,
DRAKE, FASLANE and CALEDONIA. These presentations focus on the principal considerations
of civilian employment, our employment service and the management of financial
affairs during this transitional period. They explain how the Association can
be of help with all manner of related subjects, how it can bring in independent
professional advice to inform where required and how it can be of help to personnel
in numerous ways, for many years after they have left the Service.
Please contact the Association if you would like more information on the Refresher,
Pre-Deployment or Resettlement Lectures.
