About The WEA

Introduction

The White Ensign Association is a registered charity founded jointly by the Royal Navy and the City of London in 1958.

The Association was set up to provide a financial advisory service of the highest calibre for all serving and retired personnel of the Royal Navy, the Royal Marines, the former Queen Alexandra’s Naval Nursing Service, the Women’s Royal Naval Service and their respective Reserves.

Over the years the role has developed and expanded to include the provision of assistance in resettlement and Employment in civilian life. The Association is now firmly established as one of the prime links between the Royal Navy, the City, Commerce and Industry.

Organisation
The Association is a Registered Charity administered by limited guarantee.

The organisation is run by a small executive Staff operating from an office on board HMS Belfast in the Pool of London. The staff visit establishments throughout the United Kingdom on a regular basis to provide support, guidance and advice in the form of Lectures and personal interviews.

Strategic direction of the work of the Association is carried out by the Chairman and Council of Management.

The staff work in close consultation with a panel of selected Advisors.
