Mentors

BT MENTORING SCHEME
This scheme covers all aspects of the search for civilian employment with the help of experienced civilian mentors who will bring a different and valuable perspective to the process.
What does it do?
Volunteer civilian BT mentors, from junior manager to executive level, are allocated to those leaving the service and who wish to take advantage of this scheme. Each relationship is different according to individual needs, but the following services will be provided by the mentor if required, for as long as desired:
- Initial employment appraisal interview. This is ideally carried out face-to-face but can be conducted by telephone if necessary.
- Thorough CV review and guidance with the aim of producing the best possible CV
- Civilian employment evaluation which considers principally job, salary and location in order to guide the individual in the job search
- Advice on networking techniques
- Regular support, consultation and progress reviews
How does it work?
- Those interested are allocated a suitable mentor by the Director, Employment Services on initial interview.
- Contact is then made by the individual with the mentor in order to start the process.
- The mentor will advise and guide those they are responsible for, keeping the Director, Employment Services informed as appropriate.
It’s as simple as that!
