A TRULY FITTING SERVICE FOR A TRULY REMARKABLE MAN

The White Ensign Association was privileged to be represented at a Service of Thanksgiving for Admiral of the Fleet the Lord Boyce which was held yesterday at Westminster Abbey. The service and tributes were befitting of a truly great – and good – man. A constant theme in the service was that of Lord Boyce being driven by a sense of duty, whether that was as a servant to his Nation, the Royal Navy or the very many charities which he supported, including our own which he served with distinction as both Chairman and latterly as our President. We were so very lucky to have him.

The White Ensign Association was also deeply honoured and incredibly touched by the decision of Lord Boyce’s family to make us one of two charities, alongside the SBS Association, to be the beneficiaries of the retiring collection at the Abbey. This extraordinarily kind gesture reflects the huge affection which Lord Boyce had for our charity and its enduring mission in support of those in the naval family. He was a true giant. We will miss him. God speed Admiral Mike.
