The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS)
compensates for a qualifying injury, illness or death which was caused by service on or after 6 April 2005. You can claim whilst in service. JSP 765 is the Ministry of Defence statement of policy and provides a good overview of the scheme in Section 1.
The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and Service Pensions Order Legislation is the legislation governing the scheme.
The War Pension Scheme (WPS)
compensates for a qualifying injury, illness or death which was attributable to service before 6 April 2005. You cannot claim until you have left service. JSP 765 is the Ministry of Defence statement of policy and provides a good overview of the scheme in Section 2.
The Naval, Military and Air Forces Etc. (Disablement and Death) Service Pensions Order 2006 is the legislation governing the scheme.
