Haig Housing Trust

Haig Housing is proud to have served the British Veteran community for over 100 years. As the leading housing provider for ex-Service personnel in the UK, the charity now owns over 1,500 properties across 50 locations.
The Trust assists eligible Veterans in housing need, whether they are transitioning into civilian life or are simply in need of a helping hand.
Located across the UK, properties are a mix of family-sized and smaller houses, flats and maisonettes on small well-managed estates. These estates range in size from as small as six properties to our largest estate in Morden with 360 homes. Built mostly in the 1930s, 1950s and 1990s, the most recent new development in Morden, was opened by the Trust’s Patron, Her Majesty The Queen, in 2019, creating eco-friendly houses designed for the future.
Properties are available to qualifying beneficiaries at an affordable, charitable rent. As the leading housing provider in the UK we offer advice, guidance and signposting to other Veterans charities and other organisations to assist those in housing need.

The Trust also provides a small number of joint purchase properties for severely wounded or injured Service personnel and Veterans. This scheme enables the purchase of a home in a suitable location close to family, friends and support network. With a wealth of experience, Navy veteran Amanda Peach of Higher Futures leads on working with tri-service personnel, their dependents, reservists and veterans to identify their skills gaps and the opportunities available to them. Many do not hold higher level qualifications recognised by civilian employers and this is where Amanda helps, offering access to university level education that is local and flexible – meeting employers’ needs and fitting in with employees’ lives.

Whitehorse Maritime is a small, agile team of experienced Master Mariners and other specialists, and we combine deep practical experience in our fields with the relevance of being currently- or recently-serving Merchant Navy Officers. Since 2017, we have brought this expertise to bear on a variety of safety and operational consultancy, and training/eLearning development projects for an array of shipping and port companies, as well as the Royal Navy itself. We are particularly passionate about helping Merchant and Royal Navy seafarers make their career transition a success and are proud to support a variety of projects dedicated to this important work.
